Grandmothers to Grandmothers Easing the pain of HIV/AIDS
Will be at Eastside on a regular basis making
glazed pecans that they sell to raise funds.
The Granny Connection is deeply dedicated
to provididing support, advocacy and funding to
grandmothers in Africa who are raising children orphaned by AIDS.
Can you come in and help bag?
Help is needed 1:30 to 4pm

Cooking Instructors
We are currently putting together a schedule of cooking classes for 2012. Are you willing to share your cooking skills? Do you make a dish that you are proud of? Is the microwave (or the grill or slow cooker) your best friend and you know how to make the most of it? Is your specialty a dish from another country? Can you make a vegetarian dish that your carnivore friends rave about? Do you know how to stretch that food dollar? This is your opportunity to share those skills! We are looking for a variety of folks with a variety of cooking skills and related topics. No long term commitment.
Building and Grounds Maintenance Volunteer
If you enjoy sprucing up areas through yard work, painting, sweeping, mopping, etc., Eastside Community Center welcomes you as a volunteer. You will reap the benefit of satisfaction in seeing a job well done.
Adult Tutors Needed
The McDowell Education Center is looking for new adult volunteers to tutor Adult Learners. Volunteers should have a real interest in helping adults become better readers and writers. Tutors will need to commit approximately 2 hours per week. The hours are very flexible and training will be provided prior to the tutoring sessions.
Every community needs a place for members to gather for a common purpose.
The well-being of any community requires members to become involved and to participate in the educational, social, recreational, economic, and financial issues affecting their lives.
Every individual is deserving of respect and dignity, especially during those times when they are most vulnerable and in need of assistance and comfort.
