- -Every Monday and Saturday morning volunteers from AARP will be here to do your taxes for you absolutely free. This service is for taxpayers with low and middle income, with special attention to those age 60 or older. Call us today for an appointment
 
--Peanut Butter Needed! Samantha Scudder is collecting Peanut Butter for Haitian Children & Love Chapel for her East/North Senior Project. Her goal is to collect 2009 jars of Peanut Butter. Samantha put this project together before the earthquake in Haiti. It was needed before the quake and now the need is urgent. Please come by Eastside and donate jars of peanut butter.
 
 

 


 

Along with special events, Eastside has a multitude of regularly scheduled programs and events.

  • "Meet Your Councilperson" is the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month. This is from 10:30 to noon with lunch provided after.
  • Euchre is the 1st, 3rd and 4th Monday of every month. All are welcome. Practice starts at 6 p.m. with games starting at 6:30.
  • Woodcarvers is the 2nd Monday of the month at 6 p.m.. All are welcome. Come learn or teach others.
  • Bartholomew County Writers' Club is the 1st Tuesday of the month. It is a place to meet other writers and to write and read your work. For more info call Debi Hurt at 812-371-4128 or Sue Breeding at 812-376-3465.
  • Quilting is the second Thursday of the month at  6 p.m. We have materials and machines. Gather with other quilters. Even if you know nothing about quilting, you are welcome to come learn and take part.
  • AA/NA meets at the center Wednesdays 7:30-9 p.m. and Sundays 5:30-7 p.m. and 7:30-9.
  • Pop Tabs/Cans are being collected at Eastside for Fodrea Elementary School. There is a competition between schools to raise the most cans & tabs. As this is Fodrea's last year, we are helping them to win this competition.

  • Adult Tutors Needed. The McDowell Education Center is looking for new adult volunteers to tutor Adult Learners. Volunteers should have a real interest in helping adults become beter readers and writers. Tutors will need to commit approximately 2 hours per week. The hours are very flexible and training will be provided prior to the tutoring sessions.
